Moraine has oil demonstrations, star party
MUDDY CREEK TWP — Moraine State Park will have the following programs:
Muddy Creek oil field demonstrations, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, at the central powerhouse beyond the state park’s Region 2 office at 195 Park Road.
“Owl and Mouse,” 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday, at Pleasant Valley Beach on the South Shore.
Star party, 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, at the bike rental parking lot on the North Shore. Rain date is July 18. Call the park office at 724-368-8811 by 4 p.m. to check if weather looks bad.
Family fishing, 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, at Watts Bay on the North Shore. No fishing license required and all equipment provided, but adults must take a child and children must bring an adult. Reservations are required and available by calling the park office at 724-368-8811.
“Bats in Action,” 8 to 9:30 p.m. July 18, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Route 528.
“Explore Offshore” nature-based kayaking, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 19, at McDanel’s Launch on the North Shore, for age 12 and older. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Kayak and gear are provided, or participants can take their own. Life jackets are required to be worn. Reservations required and available by calling 724 368-8811.
“Owl Prowl,” 8:30 to 10 p.m. July 25, meet outside the park office on the South Shore. Take a flashlight.
