If you could see my weight in terms gasoline prices, it would illustrate pretty well the problem we are facing with President Joe Biden’s energy policy.

My weight is 255, down from my all-time high of 287. Now, anyone would be pretty happy to find gas at either $2.55 or even $2.87, though in reality it should be well under $2.50.

If I went on an eating binge and my weight ballooned to 523 pounds, my friends would panic. If I then drove down my weight to 345 pounds, they’d be happy with my progress.

However, if I tried to tell people I was satisfied with where I was and 345 pounds would be my new normal, they would plan an intervention. I'd be told in no uncertain terms I need to lose at least another 110 pounds.

The gas price of $3.45 is not acceptable. It is as unhealthy as weighing 345 pounds. It needs to come down, and there is no Democrat who is willing to do what is needed.

Tapping into the strategic oil reserve is a bad idea. Now we are using the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve. Reserves are for emergencies, not to push prices down to get votes.

There are few silver bullets in life, but getting energy prices down comes close to fitting the bill.
