Slippery Rock University will provide a glance at the issues cybersecurity professionals face as part of an event from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Smith Student Center ballroom.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, cybersecurity related jobs are expected to grow 33% by 2033.

This free event, also available on Zoom, is open to the public and sponsored by SRU’s Center for Cybersecurity and Advanced Computing, as well as SRU’s College of Engineering and Science and the Computer Science Department.

Alongside talks from cybersecurity experts, current SRU students will present scenarios, live software demonstrations and applications to address cybersecurity threats and challenges.

Those who wish to attend virtually, the online registration form must be completed to receive a Zoom link.

This year’s guest speaker is Randall Trzeciak, who is a principal researcher and deputy director of the Cyber Risk and Resilience Directorate in the Computer Emergency Response Teams Division of the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University.

He’s also the director of the CERT National Insider Threat Center. With more than 30 years of experience in the cybersecurity field, Trzeciak specializes in improving organizations’ security and incident response capabilities by conducting information security assessments and providing training on preventing, detecting and responding to cyber threats.
