Breather from the underground

Teens cool off with soft drinks and snacks June 19, 1970, after dancing during a Purple Underground event at the Butler County Family YMCA. About 1,500 young people stormed through the psychedelically decorated building that weekend to dance and socialize. The biggest attractions were four rock bands, including the Youngstown-based rock group The Human Beinz, known for the hit song "Nobody But Me," which sold more than one million copies. The Affections, The Raven Blues and the J.C. Blues also performed.
