Opera Theater hosts competitions
PITTSBURGH — Aspiring singers will be showcased in two vocal competitions Nov. 3 and 4 hosted by the Opera Theater of Pittsburgh at Carnegie Mellon University’s Carnegie Mellon Institute auditorium, 4400 Fifth Ave.
Both professional and amateur singers will compete for prize money and roles in Opera Theater SummerFest’s 2013 season.
The Mildred Miller International Voice Competition is for emerging professional opera singers and Opera Champion of Pittsburgh is for regional amateur divas and divos.
Audiences may attend the Miller competition semfinals at no charge from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. Nov. 3.
Both Miller and Opera Champ finals will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 4. A $25 general admission ticket includes a post program reception at which audience members can meet the artists.
