Comedy kicks off Kean Theater season

Casey Bowser of Butler, Mike Regan of Hampton Township and Whitney Anne Jenkins of Butler, from left, appear in the comedy “Born Yesterday” running Friday through Sept. 29 at the Kean Theatre.

GIBSONIA — The comedy “Born Yesterday” kicks off the Kean Theatre’s 10th season.

The play is about an uncouth, corrupt rich junk dealer, Harry Brock, who brings his showgirl mistress, Billie Dawn, with him to Washington, D.C. When Billie’s ignorance becomes a liability to Brock’s business dealings, he hires a journalist, Paul Verrall, to educate his girlfriend. Once educated, Billie realizes Harry’s corrupt ways and — it turns out —she is not as dumb as she thought.

The cast features Whitney Anne Jenkins of Butler as Billie Dawn, Mike Regan of Hampton Township as Harry Brock and Casey Bowser of Butler as Paul Verrall.

Also part of the cast are Bob Meals of Butler as Sen. Norval Hedges, Chrissy Zuemie of Cranberry Township as Helen, Chris Bondi of Hampton Township as Eddie Brock, Patrick Shiner of Monroeville as Ed Devery and Susan Allardice of Bradford Woods as Mrs. Hedges.

Curtain is 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Sept. 28 and 29.

Tickets are $23. An on-site meal is available. Call 724-444-5326 or visit www.keantheatre.com.

The theater is at 5847 Meridian Road.
