A free Outdoor Discovery series, hosted by Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, takes place Thursday nights at Alameda Park, off New Castle Road. The programs begin at 7 p.m. in the park's Carousel Shelter. Scheduled for tonight is Turtle Talk with Greg Levish. “All About Bees” will be June 28. Call 724-284-5383.

Moraine Preservation Fund will conduct summer cruises on its Nautical Nature pontoon boat from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 28. There also are Wednesday Night Pizza Cruises that begin at 5 p.m. Fees are involved. Call 724-368-9185 or 724-368-8811.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, plans summer programs for groups of children ages 4 and 5, 6 to 8 and 9 to 12. Concurrent sessions are planned at Moraine State Park. Jennings is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh celebrate Wagman Observatory’s 25th anniversary with public star parties Friday and Saturday. Prizes, including one beginner’s telescope, will be given out each evening. Activities will begin, weather permitting, just before dark, at about 8:55 p.m. The observatory is in Deer Lakes Regional Park near the village of Russellton in Frazer Township, Allegheny County.
