Season Resumes Concert features opera star
The Butler County Symphony Orchestra resumes its 63rd season with a concert at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.
The theme for the season is “A Night Of …,” and this concert will focus on “A Night of Song.”
The featured soloist will be Michael Forest, a tenor in his 17th season with the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where he has sung in more than 250 performances in 19 roles.
Forest has enjoyed an international career in opera and concert. He holds degrees in music education from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va., and a certificate of advanced studies from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
He has been a frequent soloist at the Kennedy Center and with the Oratorio Society of Washington. He was a featured soloist with the Washington Chorus on tours of France and Austria.
Guest conducting will be Bruce Lauffer, one of the three candidates for the symphony’s top job. Lauffer is music director and conductor of the McKeesport Symphony.
Reserved seat tickets are available at the symphony association office, 259 S. Main St. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Student tickets are $5.

A meet the artist wine and cheese reception, with Forest as the guest, is planned for 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 9 at 114 Aubrey Drive. Tickets are $30 for the reception and are available in advance only.
