As part of its Stamp Out Hunger campaign to benefit food banks, the association asks that people set a box, can or bag containing a nonperishable food item next to their mail box before mail is delivered on May 9.

The food will be picked up by letter carriers, sorted at the post office, then delivered to a food bank or pantry.

Most post offices, including the Butler Post Office, 345 S. Main St., will have collection boxes in their lobbies for a few days before the event.
