FOXBURG — Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts presents the third annual Foxburg Scottish Festival this weekend with new activities added.
The festival kicks off with a traditional Ceilidh on the Foxburg Green at 7 p.m. Friday
outside Lincoln Hall, 92 S. Palmer St. Admission is by donation.The Ceilidh will feature singer entertainer Carl Peterson, the tartan tenor Robert Murdoch, and for the first time. Patrick Regan as the opening night piper. Terry Green, a first place winner at the 2010 Ligonier Games, will be on the Scottish fiddle.Events Saturday at RiverStone Farm will begin at 9 a.m.Visitors will have an opportunity to join in a brief, informal cricket game throughout the day.Solo bagpipers can compete in a sanctioned piper competition judged by Regan.Also featured will be athletic games, clan and vendor tents, a Scottish dog show, traditional music, golf hole-in-one contest, and, if not too hot, horse drawn carriage/wagonette rides. If the weather should be rainy, many of the activities will move indoors.Admission at the RiverStone Farm gates on Saturday is $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children younger than 6.A concert at Lincoln Hall at 7 p.m. Saturday evening will feature the group Maidens IV performing Celtic/Scottish songs with hints of pop music and gypsy jazz.
