William Winkle
William L. “Larry” Winkle, 81, of Cabot, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 23, 1943, in Wilkinsburg, he was the son of George Winkle and Elsie Donovan Winkle.
Larry was the owner of Winkle Engineering Co. in Sarver. He received his professional engineering science degree from Carnegie Mellon University. He then traveled the world building the Alcoa aluminum rolling mill plant in Australia; steel mill in Mount Clova, Mexico, and Genoa, Italy; and the water purification plant in Youngstown, Ohio, and was troubleshooter on steel mills in Thailand and the United States. He designed and built the conveyor system for the Heinz plant in Pittsburgh. Larry loved farming, boating, having traveled the Intracoastal Waterway the whole way to Florida, camping, Sunday driving and traveling the U.S.
He is survived by his wife, Valarie A. Winkle, whom he married June 15, 1962.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Linda Thompson.
WINKLE — Friends of William L. “Larry” Winkle, who died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024, will be received from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. A blessing service will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Father James Kurtz officiating.
Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
