3 hospitalized following head-on crash on Route 422 in Franklin Township
FRANKLIN TWP — A head-on collision between two vehicles Tuesday morning, Nov. 12, near the Big Butler fairgrounds sent the three people in those vehicles to a hospital for treatment.
According to Prospect-Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department, ambulances took both drivers and one passenger to Butler Memorial Hospital for varying injuries. The two vehicles, a Ford Escape and a Toyota Highlander, sustained heavy front-end damage in the crash, and they both sat in the westbound lane of New Castle Road as crews cleaned up the road.
The report of the crash came in at 10:20 a.m., with Butler County dispatch saying the occupants of the vehicles were still inside at that time. The westbound lane of Route 422 was closed, and firefighters directed traffic in the eastbound lane until about 11:05 a.m., when they cleared the scene.
Also responding to the scene were Portersville Muddy Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department, Butler Ambulance Service and state police.
