Fundraisers planned to restore Glade Run
MIDDLESEX TWP — The Glade Run Lake Conservancy is asking people to get on their feet to raise money to restore the 52-acre lake, which was drained in 2011 because of its faulty dam.
The conservancy’s inaugural Where’s Our Water 6.2-mile Run/Walk will traverse the roads of the township on Saturday.
Those registering should arrive at 7:30 a.m. at Silver Crest Stables on Overbrook Road, where the event begins. Those who have preregistered can arrive at 8:30 a.m. The race will start at 9 a.m.
Cost is $20 for both runners and walkers. Parking is available at the lake. The first 200 registrants will receive a free Where’s Our Water T-shirt.
Awards will be given to the first three men, women, boys and girls by age category and by overall. Music and other activities will kick off after the race.
The conservancy is also organizing an oldies concert at 8 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Mars High School auditorium. The Holidays will play music from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
Cost is $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
The conservancy was formed to raise money to rebuild the faulty dam at the lake so it can be refilled. Glade Run Lake was a popular spot or fishing, boating, birdwatching and other activities.
For information on the race and tickets to the concert are available at the conservancy’s website, www.gladerunlakeconservancy.org.
