Suspect accused of burglary

Business owner alerted to noise

FRANKLIN TWP — State police arrested a Muddy Creek Township man after he allegedly broke into a contracting business early Tuesday morning.

The owner caught the suspect, 21-year-old Justin R. Wagner, hiding behind one of the company trucks at Mark Thomas Trucking on New Castle Road, police said.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Wagner on charges of burglary, trespass and criminal mischief. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail, following arraignment.

An employee at a nearby bar told police that shortly after midnight he heard a “loud noise” coming from the business and called its owner.

Mark Thomas said he found the suspect and told him to stay until police arrived.

Troopers described Wagner as being “highly intoxicated and wearing “dirty clothes,” a police affidavit said.

Police inspected the business and discovered a badly damaged garage door. However, Thomas said, no entry was made and nothing was missing.

Wagner’s preliminary hearing is set for 2:15 p.m. Wednesday at District Judge Tim Shaffer’s office in Slippery Rock.
