Frances L. Douglass
Frances L. Douglass, 63, of Jackson Center passed away Wednesday at UPMC Greenville after an extended illness.
Born Jan. 10, 1947, in New Brighton, she was the daughter of Charles "Bill" Shaffer and Aletha Crihlow Shaffer.
She was married to George Douglass, who passed away March 19, 1990. She then married Robert Ryder, who survives.
Frances graduated from the Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School.
Frances was a licensed practical nurse and a nurse's aide throughout the area for many years.
She was a Protestant.
Frances enjoyed being outside. She loved to fish and hunt. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two children, Patricia E. DeRemigi of Boyers and Frank D. Douglass and his wife, Kim, of Gibsonia; five stepchildren, Tina Sealand of Clarks Mills, Kim Ursta of Sharon, Mary Ryder of Jackson Center, Rick Ryder of Mercer and Jerry Ryder of Jackson Center; and two sisters, Gladys Fichte and her husband, Mark, of Oakmont and Bille Guitse and her husband, Mike, of Emlenton. She also is survived by 27 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her twin brother, Frank Shaffer of Kennerdell; and three other brothers, Charles and Wade Shaffer of Emlenton and Robert Shaffer of Kennerdell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, and a stepdaughter, Penny Snyder.
<B>Douglass </B>— The family of Frances L. Douglass, who died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home</B>, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Anthony Catullo of the Union Presbyterian Church of Clintonville officiating.
