Pennsylvania announces 2024 Operation Safe Stop results
Multiple state agencies announced the annual results for Operation Safe Stop, an initiative aimed at enhancing school bus safety in the Keystone State.
This year, there have been 131 violations of the School Bus Stopping Law, a marked decrease from the 177 violations reported last year.
The School Bus Stopping Law requires motorists to stop at least 10 feet short of a school bus which has its stop sign extended and its lights flashing. The penalty for disobeying the law is a $250 fine, five points added to a driving record and a 60-day suspension.
The fine is increased to $300 if a violation is caught with a stop-arm camera.
