Slippery Rock Township supervisor resigns for ‘health reasons’
Slippery Rock Township Supervisor Terry Doerr has resigned from his positions on both the township’s board of supervisors and planning commission, it was announced during the supervisors meeting Tuesday night, Nov. 12.
According to Supervisor John Hines, Doerr resigned for “health reasons,” although he did not elaborate.
“He was a tremendous asset to the township while he was healthy, from the years he put in at the maintenance department,” Hines said.
The township is now accepting letters of interest for Doerr’s potential replacement on the board. Any potential applicants must have been a resident of the township for at least one year, be at least 18 years of age and a registered voter. They must also be available to attend both monthly meetings — the second Monday at 8 p.m. and the fourth Monday at 3 p.m.
Interviews will be held on Monday, Nov. 25, at the township municipal building on Branchton Road during that day’s board meeting. Any interested candidates can send an application to srtwp@srtwp.com. All letters of interest must be turned in before noon on Friday, Nov. 22.
