Thank an educator this week

American Education Week — held Nov. 18 to 22 — is a celebration of public schools and an opportunity to thank the many folks who come together to help our students learn and grow.

In Pennsylvania, we honor the amazing people who work in our public schools — from classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to cafeteria workers and bus drivers to school nurses and counselors, among many others. Their commitment to educating our students in safe, healthy environments contributes to Pennsylvania’s public schools ranking among the best in the nation.

We acknowledge and thank the parents, guardians, families and community leaders who partner with us every day to educate the next generation of citizens. Our schools could not do all they do without the critical support of our school communities.

Please take a moment during American Education Week to thank the people who make our public schools great, especially educators and support staff who are deeply committed to the success of students. A strong public education system means a stronger future for us all.

Aaron Chapin, president, Pennsylvania State Education Association, Harrisburg, Pa.
