William Spiegel

Spiegel

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, William J. Spiegel went to be with his father, Joseph Spiegel; his uncles, Lee, Neal, David and Mark Nanna; as well as his beloved dog, Maggie.

Bill will forever be remembered as a hard worker and avid outdoorsman, as well as his over 30-year legacy as a fireman. His legacy as a fireman left an indelible mark on an untold number of lives.

Starting in 1993 at Callery Volunteer Fire Company, he quickly rose through the ranks serving as chief from 1998 to 2001. Upon moving to Cranberry Township, he repeated the process, serving as chief from 2007 to 2010.

His calm demeanor, leadership, mentorship and friendship shaped so many other fire careers. Bill’s commitment to his fellow man altered an untold number of lives in crisis over the years. Bill was also proud of his work as regional manager at Transaxle.

Bill was happiest at his camp in Marienville, Pa. He was always a generous host and the life of the party. Many an evening out on the town, around the campfire or the kitchen table will be cherished memories.

He also will be remembered for his generous nature and fantastic dance moves. Above all else, Bill was a committed father of four and was expecting his first grandchild in January.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lynda and Larry Weinel; his brother, Chris Spiegel; his four children, Billy (Tiffany) Spiegel, Josh (Allison) Spiegel, Nick (Alexandra) Spiegel and Nicole Shaffer; as well as his life partner, Lynn Himmelwright.
