Robert Leighton

Leighton

Robert Keith Leighton, 66, of Evans City, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at UPMC Passavant-McCandless after a brief illness.

Born March 19, 1958, Bob, a lifelong resident of Evans City, was descended from early settlers of Butler County. He attended the former Evans City Elementary School and graduated from Seneca Valley High School in 1976. He spent his working career in the banking industry after completing an associate degree in business at New Castle Business College.

Bob cared for his parents in their final years and continued to live in the family home on Van Buren Street. He enjoyed the company of longtime neighbors, family friends, and extended family members, many of whom lived nearby in Butler County.

He shared his love of traveling in the United Kingdom, particularly England and Wales, as well as trips to Las Vegas. He was especially proud to have attended the dedication of the American Air Museum in Duxford, Cambridge, England, in 1997, by Queen Elizabeth II, with King Charles III (then the Prince of Wales) in attendance.

He was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team and the Cincinnati Reds baseball team.

Although Bob was a very private person, he never refused a request for help from family members, neighbors or friends. He quietly dedicated himself to fulfilling obligations without fanfare.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Leroy “Hutch” Leighton and Norma Faye “Kris” Kristophel Leighton of Evans City. His grandparents were the late Harry Blair Leighton Sr. and Ida Lutz Leighton of Evans City and the late William Earl Kristophel and Edna Scheidemantel Kristophel of Harmony.

He is survived by his brother, Ronald C. Leighton, and wife, Lallie, of Scottsboro, Ala.; and his nephew, Harold Kiril Bayev “Hal” Leighton, of Knoxville, Tenn.; and numerous cousins.
