LOWER BURRELL — Former 10-term state Rep. Terry Van Horne has died a month after he became ill due to bleeding on the brain.

The 65-year-old Democrat died Monday. He had been hospitalized or in rehabilitation since he was stricken last month.

Van Horne represented the 54th House District from 1981 to 2001. He left the Legislature to run for the 4th District U.S. House seat, but he lost to Republican Melissa Hart.
