Frances Black
Frances N. Black, 96, of Cabot, formerly of Butler, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at Allegheny General Hospital.
Born Feb. 23, 1928, in Lyndora, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria Penar Nietrzeba.
She was employed for 25 years in the accounting department of Nationwide Insurance. She also previously worked for Pennsylvania American Water.
Frances was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
She formerly belonged to the Intermediate League of Butler.
Frances was devoted to her family, whom she loved very much. She enjoyed cooking, and everyone who visited her home always left with a full belly and an armful of goodies.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Pumilia and her husband, Robert, of Butler, and Eloise Hulick of Butler; three grandchildren, Julie Procter and her husband, Matthew, Melissa Vissari and her husband, John, and Erik Hulick and his wife, Kylie.
Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Jordan Procter and his wife, Sara, Megan Hippler and her husband, Cameron, Haley Vissari, Olivia Vissari and Ava Hulick; and two great-great-grandchildren, Miles Hippler and Luka Procter.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Black, whom she married Aug. 7, 1948, and who passed away Oct. 10, 2017; one son-in-law, Lester Hulick; six brothers; four sisters; and one great-granddaughter, Madeline Hulick.
The Black family extends a special thank you to Sister Nancy Schnur and to the doctors and nurses of Allegheny General Hospital’s Trauma Intensive Care Unit for the expert, compassionate care they provided to Frances.
BLACK — Friends of Frances N. Black, who died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Parish, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler, with the Rev. Kevin C. Fazio officiating.
Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank, 146 N. Monroe St., Butler, PA 16001.
