College roundup: Butler grad David Bocci named PSAC swimmer of the week; Pitt basketball wins

David Bocci was named the PSAC men’s swimmer of the week Tuesday afternoon.

The IUP senior and Butler grad broke two school records Friday, swimming one of the top times in NCAA Division II in the 200-meter butterfly (1 minute, 48.88 seconds) and following that up with a 1:53.89 in the 200 backstroke.

Women’s volleyball

Butler grad Ava Plunkard was named All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference Second Team on Tuesday.

The sophomore setter for Chatham dished out 540 assists and had 39 aces, and registered 158 digs and 34 blocks on defense.

Men’s basketball

Jaland Lowe recorded a triple-double Monday in Pitt’s 93-48 win over Virginia Military Institute.

Lowe scored 11 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and handed out 10 assists as the Panthers improved to 5-0. Ishmael Leggett had 14 points to lead the way.

Wrestling

Seneca Valley grad Hunter Swedish was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference wrestler of the week, winning three of his matches last week for Washington & Jefferson, including two at the Waynesburg Duals.
