Michele ‘Mike’ DiPippa

DiPippa

Michele “Mike” DiPippa, 82, of Butler, passed away from this life while with his family, to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024.

Born in Terni, Italy, on Sept. 6, 1942, he was a son of the late Ettore and Antonia DiPippa.

Mike was employed most of his adult life as a mechanical engineer for Armco and AK Steel. It was this work in the steel industry that brought him from Italy to the United States on a business trip where he met and married the love of his life, Barbara (Scarnato) DiPippa, then leaving Italy permanently to become a U.S. citizen. Mike and Barbara were devoted to each other in marriage for 57 years, until her passing in 2022.

Mike was a strong man of faith and follower of Christ. He dedicated his life to taking care of his family and serving his church. He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, and was honored to be able to assist in the designs and renovations of the buildings and rectory and St. Michael’s Church. In the 1970s, he also designed and built the Transfiguration House of Prayer Chapel, once a retreat and sanctuary ministry for the Sisters of Divine Providence.

He formerly was treasurer of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and he enjoyed serving the weekly community meals at St. Paul Church.

He is survived by his three sons, Michael DiPippa of Harrisburg, Damian DiPippa and his wife, Tammy (Bachman), of Middleburg, Va., and Dr. Matthew DiPippa and his wife, Jacki (Murphy), of Butler; and one brother, Giuliano DiPippa and his wife, Anna Maria, of Terni, Italy.

His ultimate pride and joy and legacy left to this world in union with Barbara are seven grandchildren, Michele DiPippa, Joshua DiPippa and his wife, Missy (Reeder), Tony DiPippa and his wife, Jordan (Goodrick), Alyssa (DiPippa) Jensen and her husband, Sam, Julianna (DiPippa) Carlson and her husband, Kyle, Morgan DiPippa and Elana DiPippa. He was also anticipating the birth of his first two great-grandchildren in the coming months.

Their Nonno will be greatly missed by everyone.
