Dad,

One year ago God called your name

It was time for your soul to fly.

You gained your angel wings while

at your bedside, heartbroken, we stood by.

God saw you were getting tired,

and a cure was not to be,

So He put His arms around you

and gently whispered, “Come to me”.

With tearful eyes we watched you,

And saw you pass away.

Although we loved you deeply, we could not make you stay.

If tears could build a staircase,

And heartaches make a lane,

We’d walk the path to heaven

And bring you back home again.

Now you’re our guardian angel,

Unseen, unheard, but always near.

Your spirit lives on forever in the memories,

love and laughter we cherish and hold dear.

Until we meet again….
