Mary E. Goehring

Mary Elizabeth Goehring, 95, formerly of North McKean Street, died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday in the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Born Feb. 27, 1913, in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William J. Bruner and the late Mary Mortland Bruner.

Mrs. Goehring was a trained registered nurse, but spent most of her life as a homemaker. She was a long-term member of the Covenant United Presbyterian Church in Butler. In addition to work with several community based organizations in Butler, Mrs. Goehring volunteered for Meals on Wheels for more than 20 years. She enjoyed gardening and family gatherings.

Mrs. Goehring is survived by her son, William Goehring of Ann Arbor, Mich.; three grandsons, Daniel Goehring of Ann Arbor, Kevin Goehring of New York, and Eric Nanninga of Winnetka, Ill.; a sister, Lois Stackhouse of Philadelphia; three nieces, Mary Stackhouse of Philadelphia, Virginia Bertrand of Irving, Texas, and Mary Lou Jessop of Ridgeway.

Mrs. Goehring was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Donald E. Goehring, who she married Nov. 4, 1936, and who passed away on March 1, 1999, and also her daughter, Linda S. Nanninga.
