Holiday parades to begin after Thanksgiving
The holiday season kicks off in many Butler County municipalities directly after Thanksgiving Day.
Holiday festivities this upcoming weekend include parades in Butler and Saxonburg, and light-up nights in Mars and Evans City are planned for this weekend.
Saxonburg’s holiday parade will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, during the borough’s holiday market that will take place on Main Street at 5 p.m.
The market features local artisans, and food and drink vendors.
The parade will take off from the Saxonburg carnival grounds, and travel down Main Street.
After the parade, families can join Santa Claus for cookies at the South Butler Community Library.
The Spirit of Christmas Parade will cruise down Butler’s Main Street starting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, capping off a day of activities in the People’s parking lot at 205 North Main Street.
Fun in downtown Butler starts at 2 p.m. Activities include balloon animals, face painting and more.
Saturday also includes plentiful opportunities to shop local along Butler’s Main Street.
Light Up Mars will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.
The borough will host a holiday market, horse-drawn carriage rides and a parade, plus the Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
The lighting is at 5:30 p.m., and the parade is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
The Miracle on Main Street in Zelienople takes place Thursday, Dec. 5, with activities from 4 to 8 p.m.
Activities include open house hours for the Elf on the Shelf house, cookie decorating with Mrs. Claus, horse and carriage rides, the “Princess Experience,” and the annual parade, which begins at 7 p.m. on Main Street.
Santa Claus is coming to Seven Fields on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Santa’s caravan travels through the borough on its way to the Seven Fields Community Center to kick off the light-up night festivities from 6 to 8 p.m.
Santa will be escorted by Northern Regional Police and Adams Area Fire District. He will be riding a Seven Fields Public Works Department truck.
