Butler County Heritage Center, 119 W. New Castle St., celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of the oil industry with two exhibits, will be open Wednesdays and Fridays from noon until 4 p.m. during May. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children ages 5 to 17, and free for those 5 and younger. The Heritage Center is owned and operated by the Butler County Historical Society. Call 724-283-8116.

Lowrie/Shaw House, built in 1828 by Butler's only United States senator, will be open in May on Wednesdays and Fridays from noon until 4 p.m., with the last tour beginning at 3 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children ages 5 to 17, and free for those 5 and younger. Harmony Museum on Mercer Street in Harmony will host Zelienople native Patricia Knoechel and her annual Quilt in a Day program in Stewart Hall at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Admission is $6, and proceeds benefit museum operations. This year's two-hour presentation, "Night and Day, Lover's Knot, How Charming and Fox & Geese," is based on the latest Quilt in a Day publications by Knoechel and her sister. <B>"Massey Harbison Indian Captive"</B> will be presented Friday on the anniversary of her abduction May 22, 1792. She was taken captive from her cabin by a band of raiding Indians in 1792. Starting at noon Friday in the River Forest Golf Clubhouse near Freeport, there will be a luncheon and multimedia dramatic reading and lecture followed by a walking tour to the site of Massey's abduction and the site of the settler's fort Reed's Station. The approximate schedule is lunch from noon to 1 p.m., presentation from 1 to 2 p.m., and walking tour from 2 to 3 p.m. Cost is $12 plus tax and gratuity. Call 724-295-2298.

<B>Pittsburgh Children's Museum</B>, 10 Children's Way, Allegheny Square, has new admission prices. Admission is $10 for children 2 to 18 and senior citizens and $11 for adults; children younger than 2 are admitted free. Parking is $5 for nonmembers in the museum lots. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays; and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Continuing is "Dinosaurs in Their Time." Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, with additional hours until 8 p.m. Thursdays, and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Closed major holidays, such as Memorial Day and Fourth of July. Regular admission, which includes the Carnegie Museum of Art, is $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens, and $11 for students and children 3 and older, and free for members and children younger than 3.
