Sara ‘Sally’ Alters
Sara N. “Sally” Alters, 90, formerly of Bellefonte, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, while under the care of Concordia at the Orchard, in Butler.
Born April 6, 1934, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Novosel and Dorothy Yorks Novosel.
Sally was a former member of Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. A devout Christian, she and her husband, Leon, led many people to Christ. She retired from her position as a secretary at Penn State University. Sally was an avid fan of Penn State football, as well as the Penn State women’s basketball team. In her free time, she was an avid reader and knitter. Above all, Sally enjoyed spending time with her family, Sunday family dinners and her grandchildren.
Sally leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, April Alters Bresnehan, and her husband, Stephen, of Butler; four grandchildren, Eric (Jenna) Bresnehan, Dr. Michael (Samantha) Bresnehan, Adam (Kiley) Bresnehan and Brian (Eden) Bresnehan; five great-grandchildren, Noelle, Lilly, Jacob, Beau and Leo; and her siblings, Richard Novosel and Mary Jane Fisher; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leon N. Alters, whom she married on June 3, 1960, and who passed away on Sept. 24, 2013; and her brother, Billy Novosel.
ALTERS — Family and friends of Sara N. “Sally” Alters, who died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, will be received for visitation from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew, with Pastor Reid Moon officiating.
Sally will be laid to rest beside her husband at Fairview Cemetery in Millheim, Centre County, Pa.
