SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University junior defensive end Matt Peacock has been named Beyond Sports Network Division II Player of the Week.

Peacock recorded five tackles behind the line of scrimmage — including 3.5 sacks — in The Rock's 55-21 win at Seton Hill. He has eight sacks on the season.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University’s men’s and women’s soccer teams have earned first-round byes in the NCAA Division II Tournament.The men (13-3-3) have a No. 1 seed in the Atlantic Region and will host fourth-seeded Millersville (12-5-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.The women (13-3-2) have the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Region and will play the Shippensburg-Edinboro winner at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

ATLANTA — Just 17 years after it opened, it looks as though Turner Field, the stadium affectionately known as “the Ted” is headed for extinction, like so many sports facilities in this city.In a stunning announcement, the Braves said they are moving in 2017 to a new 42,000-seat, $672 million stadium about 10 miles from downtown in suburban Cobb County, apparently swayed by a lucrative financial package that was just too good to pass up.
