ABERDEEN, Md. — Slippery Rock University senior shortstop Will Kengor has been named Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League Player of the Week.
Playing for the Rockville Express, Kengor hit .405 in 10 games, including a two-run walk-off triple in the bottom of the 10th inning against Bethesda.
Kengor ranks second in the league with a .354 batting average. He leads the circuit with 36 runs scored and 32 walks.
VERONA — Cranberry Township resident Brent Rodgers cruised past the first round of the C.R. Miller Memorial Match Play Invitational, but was eliminated in the quarterfinals.Rodgers earned an 8 and 7 win over D.J. Diethrich of Allison Park in first-round action, before falling 2 and 1 to Grant Engel of Pittsburgh.
