GCC men’s tennis picked to win PAC

WEXFORD — The Grove City College men’s tennis team is picked to win the Presidents’ Athletic Conference title this spring in a preseason poll of the league’s head coaches.

NFL's Cardinals paying Kolb bonus

TEMPE, Ariz. — The Arizona Cardinals will pay quarterback Kevin Kolb his $7 million roster bonus, effectively ending their pursuit of free agent Peyton Manning.

Yankees' Pettitte making comeback

TAMPA, Fla. — Andy Pettitte is making a comeback with the New York Yankees.

The Yankees said the left-hander had signed a minor league deal with the team with an invitation to big league spring training.

The 39-year-old Pettitte last played in 2010. He sat out last season, but was with the Yankees in camp this spring as an instructor. He recently threw batting practice for the team.

Pettitte is 240-138 lifetime. In his last season with the Yankees, he was an All-Star and went 11-3.

Phillies release pitcher Willis

BRADENTON, Fla. — The Philadelphia Phillies released left-handed pitcher Dontrelle Willis, announcing the move on Twitter.

The 30-year-old Willis signed a deal with the Phillies this offseason and was competing for a bullpen spot this spring.

Dufner leads by 2 in Transitions golf

PALM HARBOR, Fla. — Jason Dufner made it through another round at Innisbrook without a bogey and posted a second straight 5-under 66 to take a two-shot lead into the weekend at the Transitions Championship.

Top-ranked Tseng leads LPGA event

PHOENIX — Top-ranked Yani Tseng shot a 2-under 70 to take a one-stroke over five players after the second round of the LPGA Founders Cup.

Harris calling for new PSU trustees

HERSHEY — Former NFL star Franco Harris says the entire Penn State board of trustees should be replaced.

The Penn State star, who played under coach Joe Paterno, says trustees failed to show leadership during the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal.

He calls the decision to fire Paterno “unconscionable” and says it was made without all the facts.

Penn State nears wrestling crown

ST. LOUIS — Penn State all but wrapped up its second straight NCAA wrestling championship.

The Nittany Lions won all five of their semifinal matches, and have unbeaten top seeds in three weight classes heading into the finals.

Packer center Wells joining St. Louis

MILWAUKEE — Free-agent center Scott Wells is on his way out of Green Bay after agreeing to a contract with the St. Louis Rams on Friday. Terms were not disclosed.
