WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue says that the NCAA has awarded Purdue quarterback Robert Marve a sixth year of eligibility, and he will play for the Boilermakers in 2012.

Marve missed all of the 2007 season, his true freshman year at Miami. He eventually transferred to Purdue and played just four games in 2010 after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in this left knee.

HONOLULU — Matt Every closed with three straight birdies for a 6-under 64, giving him a two-shot lead over Carl Pettersson (67) and David Hearn, who kept the Canadian presence on the leaderboard with his second straight 66 at the Sony Open.Brendon de Jonge shot 62 and Pat Perez was solid again with a 67 to finish three shots behind.

HARTFORD, Conn. — Connecticut has benched freshman guard Ryan Boatright for the second time this season as the NCAA investigates his eligibility.The school announced that Boatright will not play Saturday at Notre Dame and will remain inactive while the school works with the NCAA during its review.The point guard was suspended for the first six games of the season for an infraction that involved accepting a plane ticket last year.
