KAANAPALI, Hawaii — Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson successfully defended their Champions Skins Game title Sunday, finishing with seven skins and $310,000 to edge Mark O'Meara and Bernhard Langer by $10,000.
Nicklaus and Watson took five skins and $250,000 on the par-3 17th. The 71-year-old Nicklaus hit a 6-iron from 136 yards to 12 feet and Watson made the birdie putt in the alternate-shot event they also won in 2007.
NEW YORK — Dwight Hardy scored 26 points and St. John's stunned No. 3 Duke 93-78 on Sunday, capping the Red Storm's run of eight straight games against ranked teams with their third win.It wasn't that St. John's (12-8) beat the Blue Devils (19-2), it was the way it happened.The Red Storm, who had lost three straight and five of six, took control early and had a 46-25 lead at halftime.
Diana Taurasi insists she did nothing wrong.The former Connecticut women’s basketball star says she hadn’t even heard of the banned stimulant modafinil until she found out she had tested positive for it. Taurasi is adamant that she never used performance-enhancing drugs.“I’ve never needed anything to help me. Only thing that I’m guilty of is taking too many jump shots,” she told The Associated Press.
