INDIANAPOLIS — Former Indianapolis 500 champion and Formula One star Jacques Villeneuve is heading back to the Brickyard.

Villeneuve will attempt to qualify the No. 32 Toyota for Braun Racing in NASCAR's annual Cup visit to the historic 2.5-mile oval July 25.

Villeneuve hasn't raced full-time on any circuit since 2005. He's bounced around several NASCAR series the last five years and has made two Cup starts, both in 2007.

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The NFL suspended Green Bay Packers defensive end Johnny Jolly without pay for the upcoming season and perhaps beyond for violating the league's substance abuse policy.Jolly's suspension begins immediately and will continue through at least the 2010 season. He will be eligible to apply for reinstatement after the Super Bowl.Jolly is facing drug charges in Houston after his July 2008 arrest outside a club for possession of at least 200 grams of codeine. If convicted, Jolly faces up to 20 years in prison.

RENTON, Wash. — Seattle Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill will miss the season opener after being suspended by the NFL.Hill's suspension without pay was announced by the league on Friday. His punishment also includes missing an additional game check for violating the league's substance abuse policy.Hill was arrested in January 2009 in Georgia for misdemeanor marijuana possession. He received 12 months probation through a plea agreement. Hill was also arrested in April for investigation of domestic violence. He has pleaded not guilty and has a July 23 jury call.

LAUSANNE, Switzerland — American sprinters who were stripped of their 2000 Olympics relay medals because teammate Marion Jones was doping won an appeal Friday to have them restored.The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled in favor of the women, who had appealed the International Olympic Committee's decision to disqualify them from the Sydney Games.In Sydney, Jearl Miles-Clark, Monique Hennagan, LaTasha Colander Clark and Andrea Anderson were part of the squad that won gold in the 1,600-meter relay. Chryste Gaines, Torri Edwards, Nanceen Perry and Passion Richardson were on the 400 bronze medal squad.
