ATLANTA — An attorney for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has hired a private investigator to look into a sexual assault allegation made by a 20-year-old Georgia college student.

Police in the college town of Milledgeville continue to investigate, but have released little information since the accusation was made a week ago.

The two-time Super Bowl champ's lawyer, Ed Garland, said Friday he has hired his own investigative team.

Roethlisberger has not been charged, and Garland said "no criminal conduct took place."

CINCINNATI — Wide receiver Antonio Bryant signed a four-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals.The Bengals announced adding the 29-year-old eighth-year pro on Friday.The 29-year-old eighth-year pro had career highs in 2008 with 83 catches for 1,248 yards and seven touchdowns for Tampa Bay. After recovering from surgery for torn cartilage in his left knee last year, Bryant had 39 catches for 600 yards with four touchdowns.Adding an experienced receiver was the Bengals' top priority in free agency. The Pitt graduate visited the club this week just before the Bengals hosted Terrell Owens.

LUBBOCK, Texas — Former Texas Tech football coach Mike Leach spent more than five hours behind closed doors Friday testifying under oath as part of his lawsuit against the school for firing him amid allegations he mistreated a player suffering from a concussion.Leach has denied he mistreated receiver Adam James last season and said he suspects an $800,000 bonus he was to have received Dec. 31 was the reason he was fired one day earlier. His lawsuit includes allegations of libel and slander and breach of contract.The sophomore receiver said his coach twice ordered him to stand for hours while confined in a dark place during practice. James and his father, former player and ESPN analyst Craig James, were expected to give their depositions on Saturday.

DENVER — George Karl will skip the last three games on the Denver Nuggets' road trip as he adjusts to a feeding tube that was placed into his stomach as part of his cancer treatment.The Nuggets coach has already missed two NBA games since being diagnosed with neck and throat cancer last month. He is undergoing a rigorous six-week treatment program of radiation and chemotherapy.In a statement, Karl said he hopes he'll be ready to rejoin the team when the Nuggets return home next week.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Harness driver Brian Sears raced to his 7,000th victory Friday, reaching the milestone in the first race at the Meadowlands Racetrack when the 42-year-old driver guided trotter Muscles Marinara to an easy win.Sears was harness racing's Driver of the Year in 2009. He surpassed $100 million in lifetime earnings, ranking him eighth on harness racing's career list.Sears won the harness racing's biggest prize, the $1.5 million Hambletonian, last year with Muscle Hill in a world record time of 1:50.1. He also won the Hambletonian Oaks on the same card with Broadway Schooner, becoming the first driver to win both events in the same year.
