ATLANTA — Terrell Owens became the sixth player in NFL history to catch 1,000 passes, reaching the milestone with an 8-yard catch for Buffalo in the second quarter against Atlanta.

Owens entered the game needing two catches for 1,000 in his career, which began in 1996.

He reached the milestone in 203 games. Only Marvin Harrison and Jerry Rice reached 1,000 career receptions in fewer games.

NEW YORK — Steve Smith's season is over for the Carolina Panthers. The Miami Dolphins are hoping Ricky Williams isn't done as well.Smith broke his left arm in the Panthers' 41-9 victory over the New York Giants. Carolina coach John Fox said the star wide receiver broke his radius and would have surgery Monday.Williams played only one snap after leaving the Dolphins' 27-20 loss to Houston when he injured his right shoulder on a carry in the third quarter.

LAS VEGAS — Promoter Bob Arum delivered what he said would be his last proposal Sunday to salvage the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., which has been on life support over a blood testing dispute.Under Arum's proposal, the Nevada Athletic Commission would have the final say in how much testing there would be for the fight and when it would take place. Preparations would go forward and there would be three blood tests — none within 30 days of the fight — unless the commission decided otherwise at a mid-January meeting.If the fight is not held March 13, there is still a chance it could happen in September after the two have other fights.

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan — Jack Campbell made 22 saves and the United States remained unbeaten at the world junior hockey championship with a 3-0 victory over Switzerland.Chris Kreider, Matt Donovan and A.J. Jenks scored for the Americans (2-0), who opened the tournament with a 7-3 victory over Slovakia on Saturday night.Benjamin Conz made 46 saves for Switzerland (0-1).

LIENZ, Austria — Defending champion Lindsey Vonn believes she may have broken her arm after crashing on the opening leg of a World Cup giant slalom.Vonn said that her left arm "really hurts" and "I believe it's broken" before entering an ambulance.
