INDIANA, Pa. — The Slippery Rock University men's and women's track and field teams both stand in first place after the second day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships, being held at Indiana (Pa.).

On the men's side, Jeff Weiss and Pat Reagan placed second and third, respectively, in the 10,000-meter run Friday to help SRU total 44 points.

Kutztown is in second with 34 points.

In the women's competition, Jennifer Hansen set the SRU record in the pole vault for the third time in three weeks by reaching a first-place height of 13 feet, 4 inches.

Whitney Hendershot managed a victory with an effort of 5-8 in the high jump.

SRU, the two-time defending PSAC women's champion, currently has 65 points.

Lock Haven and Kutztown are tied for second with 59 points.

WASHINGTON — Dan Gray of Butler placed first in the Mr. Bass fishing event recently on the Potomac RiverHe also placed third in the B.A.S.S. Mr. Bass on the Potomac.

VERONA — A foursome led by Butler Country Club's Rob McClellan placed fifth at Friday's Sun Mountain Pro-3 Amateur golf event at Green Oaks Country Club.In two rounds of the best-ball format, McClellan, Bruce Cummings, Leo Parisi and John Misitis managed a score of 141, five strokes off the pace.McClellan placed second in the low-pro event by shooting a 71.
