The Butler Township 11- and 12-year-old Little League Baseball all-star squad defeated Berwin-Paoli, 8-2, in the state tournament Friday in Plymouth Meeting.

The win advances the team to Saturday's state semifinals.

Dalton Koebler pitched a complete game in the win, striking out four and surrendering one earned run.

Spencer Murray got Butler Township off on the right track by hitting a home run on the very first pitch of the game.

Chris Cotton later added a three-run home run, Alex Ziegler singled twice, Cody West doubled while Thomas Bruce, Michael Connelly, Matt Baranchak, David Tompkins and Koebler each had a base hit.

• The Butler Township 9- and 10-year-old Little League Baseball all-star squad beat Harbor Creek, 14-4, in the Section 2 Tournament Friday in Worthington.

Ryan Denny was the winning pitcher and added two singles, Cory Wheeler singled and homered, Jacob Lenart singled twice and doubled, and Nick Patten singled and doubled.

Butler Township will face Indiana (Pal) at 6 p.m. Saturday, with the winner advancing to play Grove City.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University's Nov. 2 football game at Indiana (Pa.) will be televised on the College Sports Television Network.NCAA Division II and CSTV have entered into a three-year partnership, which will yield periodic broadcasts of football and basketball games.

Paul Lubbert and Chris Slovick, two Butler County American Legion Baseball League umpires, officiated a double-header Tuesday at the Region 7 Tournament in Indiana, Pa.Lubbert of Mars has been umpiring Legion baseball for 10 years.Slovick of Butler has been a BCAL umpire for five years.
