WHEELING, W.Va. — The Pittsburgh Pride won six consecutive games last weekend to win the Ohio Valley Stars Classic fast-pitch softball tournament.

The win qualifies the team for the 2007 NSA World Series.

The squad is based in Zelienople and includes players from six different high schools. They include:

Lauren Sanderson and Trisha Hollerman of Butler, Brittany Showers of Freeport, Rebecca Boehler of Shaler; Chelsea Brown of Mohawk, Carley Cook of Brookville and Angela Burke, Katie Baun, Kelsey McFarland, Lauren Martino, Brooke Callen of Punxsutawney.

MEADVILLE — Seneca Valley grad and standout golfer Kevin Day has committed to play at Allegheny College this fall.Day was the 2004 and 2005 MVP for the Raiders, averaging 37.5 strokes per nine holes as a senior.The Gators qualified for the NCAA Division IIInational meet for the 30th consecutive season and placed 10th in 2006.
