MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Zach Jackson allowed three runs on four hits in 5Z\c innings in a 7-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs Friday night.
Jackson (1-2), a graduate of Seneca Valley, struck out two batters and walked four.
He allowed one run on two hits in the first inning, then allowed one hit over the next four innings before being charged with two runs in the sixth frame.
BUTLER TWP — Sectional qualifying for the 106th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship will be held Tuesday at Butler Country Club.Tee times begin at 8 a.m. as 31 women will play 18 holes for four qualifying places. The 2006 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship will be Aug. 7 to 13 at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Ore.
MEADVILLE — Seneca Valley graduate Lauren Torso recently completed her freshman season on the Allegheny College women's golf team and has been named a 2005-06 National Golf Coaches Association All-Scholar Athlete.A biology major, Torso ended the season as the team's fifth golfer, shooting an average round of 95.83 over 18 rounds. Her lowest round of the season was an 88.The Gators placed ninth at the national meet and won six events in their inaugural season, ending the year ranked 11th in Division III.
