Will Nesbitt, a sixth grader at Center Township Elementary School, recently won the boys 14-and-under singles division of the Beaver Valley Tennis Open.

Nesbitt, 11, received a bye in the first round of the field of 16 before defeating Ben Cohen 6-0, 6-1, Chris Lippiello 6-1, 6-0 and Jesse Scheirer 6-3, 6-3.

The event was a United States Tennis Association sanctioned tournament.

CARLSBAD, Calif. — Chad Campbell beat Tiger Woods 1-up in the third round of the Match Play Championship Friday, winning when the No. 1 player in the world missed a 12-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole.Campbell will face U.S. Ryder Cup captain Tom Lehman in the quarterfinals Saturday. The 46-year-old Lehman beat 2005 winner David Toms 4 and 3.In the other upper-bracket matches at La Costa, David Howell beat Phil Mickelson 3 and 1, and Geoff Ogilvy edged Mike Weir in 21 holes.In the lower bracket, Padraig Harrington beat Vijay Singh in 19 holes to set up a quarterfinal match against Davis Love III, a 3-and-2 winner over Chris DiMarco.In the other quarterfinal, Retief Goosen — the highest remaining seed at No. 3 — will face Zach Johnson. Goosen beat Luke Donald 1-up, and Johnson defeated Shingo Katayama 4 and 3.

FONTANA, Calif. — Mark Martin won his second Craftsman Truck race in eight days Friday, adding the Racetickets.com 200 to a victory last week at Daytona.Martin easily fought off a challenge from Todd Bodine in a two-lap overtime finish after a crash by Mike Wallace on lap 99.Defending truck series champion Ted Musgrave, Bodine's teammate, was third.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates— Maria Sharapova beat defending champion Lindsay Davenport 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 Friday to reach the final of the Dubai Women's Open.She'll face Justine Henin-Hardenne, who defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-2, 7-5 in the other semifinal. Henin-Hardenne will play for her third Dubai title in four years.
