Grove City High School sophomore golfer Cameron Peterson shot two rounds of 75 at the District 10 championships, finishing second and moving him on to the PIAA finals, to be held Saturday and next Sunday at Heritage Hills Golf Club in York.
Peterson also made it to last year's state finals, finishing 62nd as a freshman.
Westminster College women's soccer senior goalkeeper Laura Vollmer earned a shutout in the Titans' 8-0 win over Bethany (W.Va.) Saturday. Vollmer is a Butler High School grad.The team is now 11-3-1 overall and 6-0-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

SAN DIEGO - Two-time All-Star Ray Boone, patriarch of a three-generation baseball family, died early Sunday following a long illness. He was 81.Boone had been hospitalized for six months with complications following surgery, said his wife, Pat.Boone played from 1948-60 with six teams and was followed into the big leagues by son Bob and grandsons Bret and Aaron.Boone was an infielder who had a career .275 batting average, with 151 home runs and 737 RBI. He played for the Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Athletics, Milwaukee Braves and the Boston Red Sox.
