Rich Connors of Butler, Matt Thompson of Ellwood City, Steve Ace of Parker and Mike Miller of Chicora won races Sunday at Shadetree Speedway.

Connors won in the Stock division, Thompson in the Outlaw Stock division, Ace in the modified division and Miller in the Super-Modified division.

Karns City's David Black will be competing in the 200-meter dash at the PIAA Class AA Track and Field Championships.Black placed second at the District 9 meet last Friday with a time of 23.4 seconds. The District 9 winner, Smethport's Mike Mitchell (23.18), elected not to compete in that event, opening up a spot for Black.The state meet begins Friday and runs through Saturday.

Melanie Buczko, a freshman pole vaulter on the Bucknell women's track team, will compete in this weekend's NCAA East Regionals at the University of Florida in Gainesville.Buczko, a graduate of Butler High School, set the Bison school record again, clearing 13 feet, 3½ inches at the ECAC Championships two weeks ago.

Grove City College senior water polo players Jessica and Julie Zedaker both earned Division III Honorable Mention All-America honors from the America Water Polo Coaches Association Tuesday.Jessica led the Wolverines with 31 assists and 106 steals while her 51 goals ranked second on the team. She scored in 22 of 28 matches, including 13 multi-goal games.Julie stopped 407 of 709 shots (57.4 percent) as goalkeeper. She also played sparingly in the field, scoring eight goals and 23 assists.
