Opal 'Nick' Morse

Opal Geneva Nichols "Nick" Morse, 92, of South Eberhart Road, Butler, died at 6:45 a.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 9, 1917, in Tyler County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Samuel E. Nichols and Agnes Blanche (Tustin) Nichols.

Mrs. Morse was a member of the Christ Community United Methodist Church.

She attended Tyler County High School in Middlebourne, W.Va., and McMillian Hospital Nursing School in Charleston, W.Va., where she received her degree as a registered nurse.

Mrs. Morse worked at Charleston General Hospital and New Martinsville Hospital in West Virginia.

She enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Mrs. Morse is survived by her husband, Harold L. Morse of Butler, who she married Oct. 6, 1944; a son, Michael D. Morse and his wife, Cynthia Brandt, of Salt Lake City, Utah; three grandchildren, Lauren E. Morse, Samuel E. Morse and Matthew B. Morse, all of Salt Lake City, Utah; a brother, Lester W. Nichols of Alma, W.Va.; a sister, Juanita N. Whelan of Pittsburgh; and three nieces and three nephews.

Mrs. Morse was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

<B>MORSE</B> — Friends of Opal Geneva Nichols "Nick" Morse, who died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Christ Community United Methodist Church with the Rev. Howard Burrell officiating. Burial will be Tuesday in Beechwood Cemetery.
