Bills QB Josh Allen, Hailee Steinfeld announce engagement

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld announced their engagement Friday, roughly a year-and-a-half after being first romantically linked.

The 28-year-old NFL star and “Hawkeye” actress, 27, confirmed the news in a joint Instagram post, revealing they got engaged last week.

The couple shared a romantic photo, showing Allen down on one knee in front of a floral arch overlooking the ocean while surrounded by dozens of candles. “11•22•24,” they simply captioned the pic.

Allen and Steinfeld were first linked in May 2023 after being seen getting cozy on what appeared to be a dinner date. The romance seemingly started shortly after Allen ended his near 10-year relationship with childhood friend-turned-girlfriend Brittany Williams.

Chatter about a potential engagement began in January when Steinfeld donned a ring to the Golden Globes that raised eyebrows. She quickly shot down those rumors, saying she wore the ring for “no particular reason” other than she thought it was “cute.”

Rupert Grint

Magic can't save 'Harry Potter' star Rupert Grint from a $2.3 million tax bill

LONDON — Former “Harry Potter” film actor Rupert Grint faces a 1.8 million-pound ($2.3 million) bill after he lost a legal battle with the tax authorities.

Grint, who played Ron Weasley in the magical film franchise, was ordered to pay the money in 2019 after H.M. Revenue and Customs, the U.K. tax agency, investigated his tax return from seven years earlier.

The agency said Grint had wrongly classed 4.5 million pounds in residuals from the movies — money from DVD sales, TV syndication, streaming rights and other sources — as a capital asset rather than income, which is subject to a much higher tax rate.

Lawyers for Grint appealed, but after years of wrangling a tribunal judge ruled against the actor this week. Judge Harriet Morgan said the money “derived substantially the whole of its value from the activities of Mr. Grint” and “is taxable as income.”

Grint, 36, starred in all eight Harry Potter films between 2001 and 2011 as the boy wizard’s best friend, and is calculated to have earned around 24 million pounds from the role.

He previously lost a separate court battle over a 1 million pound tax refund in 2019.

Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres’ new UK home floods weeks after she escapes U.S.

Ellen DeGeneres’ new home in the U.K. has endured a massive flood, mere weeks after the former talk show host permanently moved to England in the wake of Donald Trump’s reelection.

She and her wife, actress Portia de Rossi, were just settling into their new home in the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, about 100 miles northwest of London, when the 43-acre property was overtaken by floodwater, according to TMZ.

The flooding comes as heavy rain and high winds from Storms Bert and Conall have battered parts of England this week, with the U.K.’s Environment Agency issuing nearly 80 flood warnings and over 150 flood alerts.

The roads surrounding the Emmy winner’s property have reportedly been covered in 5 feet of water. Many of the Cotswolds’ residents have been left trapped inside their homes.

DeGeneres and de Rossi previously faced a similar crisis at their California home in Montecito, as deadly storms and flooding slammed the Golden State in early 2023.

DeGeneres at the time shared footage of the damage caused by the “unprecedented rain” that led to mandatory evacuation orders of the star-studded town. Montecito also houses the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston, Ariana Grande and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
