Eleda Snyder
Eleda Catherine Snyder, 96, the oldest resident of Forestville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at AHN Grove City.
Born on July 3, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Eleda was the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Elemeier.
Eleda graduated from Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh. She worked at Woolworth’s in Pittsburgh, P. Wall in Grove City and Slippery Rock University, from which she retired.
On Nov. 10, 1947, Eleda married Donald Snyder, who preceded her in death in 1983.
Eleda was a lifetime member of St. Anthony Christian Mothers. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards and especially loved to play dice, which she always won. Eleda served on the Mercer Township election board for many years.
Eleda is survived by her children, Donald Snyder of Harrisville, Eleda Swank of Butler, Marlene Snyder of Grove City, Neil Snyder of Harrisville and Kevin Snyder of Borden, Ind.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother-in-law, Paul Snyder; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband and parents, Eleda was preceded in death by her siblings, Loretta Werner, Esther Kobat, Al Elemeier, Robert Elemeier, Henry Elemeier, Jacob Elemeier, Neil Elemeier, Meryl Schmidt, Helen Mike and Mary Elemeier; and all of her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
SNYDER — Family of Eleda Catherine Snyder, who died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at JAMISON MCKINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville.
Eleda’s funeral mass will take place at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 232 Boyers Road, Forestville, with Father Sean Francis officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Harrisville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be make in Eleda’s honor to St. Anthony Catholic Church in Forestville.
