Driver loses control, hurt in accidentFORWARD TWP — A driver was injured after her car went over an embankment along Prospect Road Wednesday night.Assistant Chief Brian Greenawalt of the Evans City Volunteer Fire Department said the female driver, whose name and age was unavailable, received minor to moderate injuries from the accident, which was reported in a 5 p.m. 911 call.“She lost control of the vehicle due to an unknown reason,” Greenawalt said.The driver was taken by Harmony Ambulance to a Pittsburgh hospital. Crews cleared the scene at 8:25 p.m.State police are investigating the cause.

College preparation workshops slatedBUTLER TWP — Two college preparation workshops will be hosted in November at the Butler Senior High School for students in ninth to 12th grade.A Preparing for College workshop will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Nov. 2 at the cafeteria of the high school, with guidance counselors available to discuss career planning. Other topics covered will be scholarships, college applications, financial aid and the PSAT, SAT and exams.A specific FAFSA workshop will be held that same night from 6 to 8 p.m., with two one-hour sessions.The workshop will allow students and parents to work on the FAFSA that night with help from financial aid representatives at Butler County Community College and the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency.To attend the FAFSA workshop, students should call the guidance office at 724-214-3211.
