Fire damages Armstrong County home Wednesday
No one was injured in a fire that burned one room of a house in Perry Township, Armstrong County, on Wednesday night, Dec. 4.
Steve Emery, chief of Bruin Volunteer Fire Department, said the call for the fire at 119 Mudd Lane came in around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters arrived at the house to see no flames visible from the outside, but upon their entry to the residence, they found a fire burning in a single room.
According to Emery, the people living at the house called in the fire, and they made it out safely. The fire was contained in the room, without spreading to any other parts of the house, Emery said.
“We made entry into the house to find a working fire, which we had to knock down to keep it inside with no extension,” Emery said. “We kept it to one room, so it was fairly minimal.”
He said the residents will likely be able to return to the house quickly.
Emery said the fire was potentially caused by the house’s heating system. Crews were at the house for nearly an hour-and-a-half before clearing the scene.
