2 taken to hospital after rollover accident in Buffalo Township
BUFFALO TWP — A mother and her child were taken to a Monroeville hospital after their SUV collided with a tractor trailer and rolled over on South Pike Road on Friday, Dec. 6.
The accident was reported shortly before 11:30 a.m. and occurred near the intersection of South Pike Road and Silverville Road near the Buffalo Township Park and Ride. Buffalo Township Police Chief Tim Derringer said both vehicles were traveling northbound at the time of the impact.
“The SUV ... attempted to pass the tractor trailer, at which point the tractor trailer did not see the vehicle,” Derringer said. “The tractor trailer was attempting to make a left (turn) on Silverville Road, and the vehicle passing collided with the truck.”
After the collision, the SUV rolled over several times before coming to rest on the side of the road, sustaining severe damage.
The tractor trailer sustained only minor damage, and its driver was unhurt. There were no passengers in the tractor trailer, Derringer said.
He said the mother and son were taken to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville. Their injuries were unknown as of Friday afternoon.
Aside from Buffalo Township Police, the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department and Freeport EMS responded to the crash site.
